Who can apply for RRB JE and DMS?
JE posts require the prescribed three-year diploma in engineering or a bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology in the relevant discipline. DMS posts require a three-year diploma in any engineering discipline, subject to the post parameters in Annexure A. Candidates must already hold the prescribed qualification by 13 September 2026.
The general age range is 18 to 33 years as on 1 January 2027. The notice provides separate relaxations for categories including SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD, ex-servicemen and eligible railway staff.
RRB JE exam pattern
The recruitment process has 1st Stage CBT, 2nd Stage CBT, Document Verification and Medical Examination. The 1st Stage CBT has 100 questions and lasts 90 minutes, or 120 minutes for candidates eligible to use a scribe. There is negative marking of one-third mark for each wrong answer.
Application fee
Most candidates pay ₹500. ₹400 is refunded after appearing in the 1st Stage CBT, after applicable bank charges. Candidates in the listed concession categories, including SC, ST, ex-servicemen, PwBD, female, transgender, minority and EBC categories, pay ₹250; ₹250 is refunded after appearing in the 1st Stage CBT, after applicable bank charges.
